| Parked away from traffic, Tokiko tells Kamui that his mother should have died in flames, that she took her own life. Kamui asks if she means suicide. Tokiko says No, his mother sacrificed herself for the sake of another. That is the fate of someone of the Magami family. Sorata suddenly looks up from the back seat. Startled he asks if she means the Magami as in Shadow Sacrifice. (Kageni) Tokiko remarks on Sorata knowing what that means and asks him to explain it to Kamui. |
| "The Magami clan are all Shadow Sacrifices. There's an old magic spell called a scapegoat doll where the doll accepts others' misfortunes and ill omens. The Shadow Sacrifice is in other words a living scapegoat doll. They become shadows of nobles or important politicians, and are sacrifices that accept all of their masters' misfortunes. Who their masters are is really top secret. One theory claims that about half our Prime Ministers were under their protection." Kamui then demands to know whose place his mother took. Tokiko answers that her sister left while she was still in Junior High, telling her she was with a child that would one day determine the fate of the world. She had since then burned away carrying all the misfortunes that would have befallen Kamui. Tokiko then tells Kamui that the one day he will receive the Sword again, that two swords exist, but that his has not materialized in this world yet. |
| It has started to pour again. Looking down at the passersby on the street, Arashi decides she had better put a kekkai in place to protect the civilians. From her hands springs the barrier that will lock herself and the sendings in another dimension. |
| From the back seat of the car Sorata suddenly whips around. Someone has just put up a kekkai! Jumping from the car Sorata notes it's in the direction of the hospital. As Kamui exits the car Tokiko leans over and smiles. One day Kamui will receive his sword. On that day they will meet again. Kamui glares and remains silent, shutting the door. Without waiting for Sora he takes off toward the pyramid barrier. Tokiko quietly says to herself that they will meet again. Looking to her left she notes the sendings on the building beside her and quickly speeds off into traffic. |
